Administrative Team

Jennifer Preston, LMFT

Director


Jennifer is a co-founder of Core Conditions. She offers a well balanced background of education and experience in the field of mental health. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She has over 25 years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and families. Jennifer has previously worked for FamiliesFirst, Inc and group homes for both adolescent females and latency age males. She received training through an array of programs including: Grande Rhonde Child Center (day treatment program specializing in treatment of physical/sexual abuse); Shelter From The Storm (domestic violence), and The Center for Parenting Excellence (promotion of education, care, and nurturance for teenage mothers and their infants). Jad Turner, PH.D, lmft

Director


Dr. Turner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Pre-Licensed Psychologist, and co-founder of Core Conditions Inc. His previous work experience includes: Valley Group Homes as a Residential Counselor, Fresno County Probation Department as a T.A.C. Officer, and FamiliesFirst, Inc as a Psychotherapist. He has over 20 years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. He holds a B.S. in Criminology, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Psychology. Dr. Turner has extensive training and experience in child, adolescent and play therapy as well as group psychotherapy. He is a certified Aggression Replacement Training (ART) therapist and he specializes in biofeedback therapy for stress, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. MFC#42921

Kyle Murray, LMFT

Program Manager


Kyle began employment with Core Conditions, Inc. in 2016 as a Residential Counselor I. He has quickly risen through the ranks promoting to Residential Counselor II, Residential Supervisor, and into his current position in 2019 as the Residential Program Manager. Kyle has over five years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, and families. He is a certified STRTP Administrator, certified Pro-Act Instructor, and an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Kyle holds a B.S. degree in Criminology–Forensics and Behavioral Sciences from California State University, Sacramento and an M.S. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from California State University, Fresno.




Lorenzo Rodriguez, M.S., PPS

Program Manager


Lorenzo has been employed with our organization since 2016. He brings over five years of experience working with at-risk youth. Lorenzo holds a B.S. in Criminology with a minor in Spanish from California State University, Fresno. He also holds an M.S. in Educational Counseling with a PPS Credential. He is a certified Handle With Care Instructor and is bilingual in Spanish.



Joey Gonzalez

Supervisor - CCI Brawley


Joey brings over 22 years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in both residential and outpatient mental health clinics. Joey has been employed by Core Conditions since 2005 and brings 14 years of supervisory experience to the organization. Joey is a certified Aggression Replacement Training (ART) facilitator. He is the assigned Supervisor at the Brawley House.

Roger has been employed with our organization since 2011, bringing over 10 years of experience working with incorrigible youth. Roger has extensive experience as a youth pastor as well, and brings a strong spiritual component to our youth who are interested. He is fluent in Hmong. Roger is the assigned Supervisor at the Dakota House.

Treatment Team



anthony garcia, LMFT

Program Manager


Anthony has been employed with Core Conditions & DN Associates since 2019. He holds a B.S. in Social Work and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from California State University, Fresno. Anthony has provided psychotherapy to at-risk youth since 2014, working in both community-based services (Uplift Family Services) and school-based counseling (On-Site Counseling Program). Anthony has also worked as a Lifeline Counselor through the Trevor Project. Anthony provides a full-spectrum of mental health services to include assessments, individual, group, and family therapy.

David Fox, MD

Psychiatrist


David Fox, M.D., is Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1962 with a degree in Social Relations, and cum laude from Yale University School of Medicine in 1966. He completed his internship in Pediatrics and Child Development at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and did his psychiatric residency and fellowship at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School from 1973-1977, and since 1977 has been a Professor of Psychiatry with the University of California at San Francisco. His professional experience is extensive, serving as the Associate Chief of Psychiatry at Valley Medical Center, and the Medical Director of the Renaissance Adolescent Center for Clovis Community Hospital, and was the director of Child and Adolescent Services at Cedar Vista Hospital. He also served as the Director of Psychiatric Training at Valley Children’s Hospital for 18 years. Dr. Fox is also a consultant to the California State Diagnostic School for Neurologically Handicapped Children. He holds certifications in Psychiatry-Neurology, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Fox is the author of numerous publications.



Laura Augustson

Licensed Psychotherapist


Laura has been employed with Core Conditions & DN Associates since 2019. She holds a B.S. in Applied Psychology with a minor in Chemical Dependency Counseling as well as a M.S. in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University. Laura has over 16 years of combined experience working in outpatient, inpatient, and school-based psychotherapy and substance abuse counseling centers. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents using various clinical modalities to include sand tray, talk, play and art therapy. Laura provides comprehensive, trauma-informed care to our youth.

Marissa Shennan, LMFT

Licensed Psychotherapist


     
Marissa has been employed as a contract provider with our organization since 2016. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration, an M.S. in Counseling and Student Services, an M.S. in Psychology, and an M.S., in Counseling–Marriage, Family & Child Therapy. Marissa has experience working in a wide variety of psychotherapy settings with children and adolescents, to include Rape Counseling Services, school-based therapy, and residential treatment. She provides trauma-informed care and is well versed in art and play therapy.



David Bethea, RW

Substance Abuse Specialist


   
David has provided substance abuse services to the youth of our organization for the past 20 years. David is also the Executive Director for Youth OPS, a non-profit community youth development corporation he founded in 2003. He is also is the Adolescent Treatment Supervisor for Fresno New Connections Substance Abuse Services. David began his work in prevention in 1989 with John Jay College in Queens New York. He has attended Hampton University and Teacher’s College at Columbia University. In 1995, David was hired as a Prevention Specialist for Fresno New Connections (FNC) and was lead staff for numerous community prevention services and activities. In 1998, David was hand-picked by Kings View Corporation to run its county-wide Friday Night Live Youth Development Program. David has been asked to speak at numerous colleges, schools, and communities on various approaches and techniques in youth development. David has also provided trainings on youth development to the Fresno Parks and Recreation Dept., Boys and Girls Clubs, various community based organizations, schools and churches.


Laurie Sagardia

Equine-Assisted Therapy & Activities


 
Laurie has a strong background in equine management. She is a native Fresnan who has a deep love for our community and a long commitment of serving individuals with physical, mental, emotional, and social challenges through equine-assisted activities and therapies. She continually strives to develop new and innovative interventions to help individuals who are at risk or who have disabilities heal through their interactions with horses.


Daniel Longoria

Gang Interventionist


   
Daniel has devoted his second chance at life to creating positive social change within our society and continues to hone the most successsful strategies and techniques used in prevention/intervention services. He continues to seek education, experience, and research to provide the best human service within his professional reach. Daniel has been a Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor II through the CAARR Institute since the year 2000. He is an evidence-based gang interventionist and gang expert, keynote speaker, trainer, and consultant. He has removed over 60 tattoos from his own body. He has over 20 years of experience in the human service field and has provided over 17,000 clinical hours to patients.
